The Big Move

Ron and Aiden were some of the first readers to send me photos of their Tappan Deluxe stove.  I posted about Mighty Whitey back on January of 2010.  Well, Mighty Whitey has done some traveling since we first met her (or is it him?).  The Tappan Deluxe has moved from Illinois to Minnesota and has a new home in a kitchen built to her specifications.  Note the built in vintage style flour and sugar bins on either side.

  2. Thanks! Now, we can't take all the credit: the previous owners had lovingly rebuilt the kitchen to a great degree, and installed a "restaurant/chef's" stove that they removed when we bought the house, because we wanted Mighty Whitey in her new "shrine." We had the bins built and installed, along with a built-in table and new shelf on the wall for the microwave. In addition to "spotlights" and a very useful multi-speed exhaust fan in the large, industrial vent, there are "heating lamps" directed to the rack above Mighty Whitey for keeping things warm. There's even a "warming drawer" built into the pantry press. The kitchen, under two owners, has come to fruition, and it's a joy to plan and cook and serve here!

  3. Congradulations from Precious in DC. Looks Great & I think I see a couple of IKEA accessories! Makes me think Precious will be moving with me too if I ever decide to sell the Little House & move totally into the Big House....

  4. Thanks, Joe - but we ABSOLUTELY PROMISE you that NOTHING in this house is from Ikea! NOTHING! More like Industrial Restaurant Supply and good ol' all-American GE.

  5. What a beautiful focal point for your Mighty Whitey! I'm just sitting here ogling my own "Mighty Whitey" which I just purchased this morning for $100.00!The fellow even delivered it & put it in my dining rm. ( not putting it in kitchen 'till tile etc. goes in. My stove is in really great shape, only missing one of the tiny metal knobs on the clock..... and it's clean, too! I hope mine looks as georgeous in my 1950's kitchen when all is done.
